In history, Dege is an important heritage site of the "Men" school and the "Kama-Katse" (early called "Kalu") School of Tibetan traditional painting, especially since the 18th century, the " Kama-Katse " school has formed a center in Dege, and integrates the "Thangka" art of Tibetan traditional painting into the engraving, which is a major breakthrough and innovation of the wooden engraving in Dege Printing House. In the Dege Printing House there are over 200 carved wood blocks for making paper and cotton cloth prints.
